An Overview Of The Writing And Reading A Paper Program
An Overview Of The Writing And Reading A Paper ProgramIf you are a student, one of the best ways to increase your level of competence is to take up a program that incorporates both writing and reading an essay. It is not just the education system that can benefit from this approach, but also students who would like to improve their writing skills and learn to analyze and evaluate facts. A program that offers both writing and reading a paper can help you broaden your learning and increase your confidence in a wide range of areas. One way to think about it is to consider how your reading and writing skills would develop if you took a research method that included learning to write as well as read a paper. A research method would also assist you with your planning and strategy for selecting the right paper to write. You may become aware of how to select papers based on the topics they are about, the overall nature of the paper, the instructors that would be helping the students, and how much time it would take to complete a paper. Since you would be able to evaluate many aspects of the paper, your ability to set and meet deadlines would improve. This would lead to you developing more confidence and will enhance your ability to structure an argument, develop your essay, and formulate a conclusion. In other words, you would be able to organize your thoughts and draw out a good argument and build a point by point thesis in just a short amount of time. And then as you look back at your essay, you would see that you worked through a difficult topic and created a well thought out argument, instead of just blabbing on about your feelings and opinions, which would have been less helpful. You should never look at your future as being limited to doing one thing at a time. Once you are able to process information in a logical way, you will realize that you can easily deal with any number of different situations. Many people will continue to look at their writing ability as a me ans to getting ahead, but youwill realize that you can enhance your skills in all areas as you work your way through your studies. When you begin looking for a program to utilize in your studies, you will notice that many of them offer help in case you need assistance with your essay writing. In fact, if you take a program that combines writing and reading a paper, you can expect the instructor to be willing to offer tips, answers, and encouragement when you need it. You may also want to consider hiring an expert to help you with the whole essay process, not just the writing part.If you require additional help or supervision, a program that offers both writing and reading a paper may be able to fulfill these needs. Instead of dealing with the stress of writing your essay on your own, you will be able to focus your attention on the quality of your essay that will increase your confidence, will help you develop an argument, and allow you to analyze your paper. For students who do not wa nt to take a risk with their academic performance, this type of approach to the education system may help you surpass your performance level. By taking this approach, you will be able to use the process of learning to integrate different areas of your life. You will have the ability to plan for your future while improving your current education and overall productivity.
Teaching Argumentative Essays - Sample Topics For A Rhetoric Essay
Teaching Argumentative Essays - Sample Topics For A Rhetoric EssaySample topics for a rhetorical essay should contain both issues that need to be addressed and topics that have already been covered. In fact, it is highly recommended that you develop at least two different samples. Each will serve as a stepping stone towards the next. The topic should begin by identifying what the reader will see. After all, what you teach your students must be organized and clear. After you have determined that, you should begin to list specific examples from that particular text or topic that illustrate your point. Using this sample, you can ensure that the students will remember the specific topic that you have taught them.It is very important to note that this selection process is a critical part of your rhetorical skills. Without having to do this, you may never master any topic. Most students tend to not feel comfortable when they only receive a cursory overview of a topic. Most do not know what they can expect when they pick up the textbook for a particular subject. If you expect your students to study for more than a few hours each week, then you need to be able to provide a consistent and clear reference for them to use. When teaching, the key is to be able to provide as many sample topics as possible for your students to analyze. By making this a part of your syllabus, you will be able to avoid having your students choosing the wrong topics based on what they find in their textbook. By providing them with a written outline for a specific topic, you can keep the topic in perspective. You can also make the topic specific to the author's style and voice. It is important to highlight what is taught in the text and not what is provided as an example, especially if the examples were not given in the actual text. In order to avoid this, it is important to have a simple outline of what is taught in the text. For instance, if you are explaining 'definition, argument, derivation, d emonstration' then provide an example from the text that exemplifies these three words. When your students are learning to identify a topic based on the information provided, you will be able to teach them how to apply the concepts from that topic to a real life situation. If the author provides an example from the text, they will be able to use the concept correctly when they are in an actual scenario. There are many times when students will not be able to put the concept to use in a specific situation because they do not understand the point of the example.By presenting the sample topics for a rhetorical essay, you can ensure that the class will come together to tackle the topics. You will be able to clearly provide for the students how to analyze the text for their own learning. Your students will be able to remember what is taught because you presented it in a way that is relevant to the text. They will be able to use the concepts taught because you identified what was offered in the text. The examples will help your students to get the right interpretation of what is being taught in the text. Using this information, they will be able to apply it to their own texts. They will be able to identify where they may be going wrong in their own work and where they can correct themselves. In order to continue to develop this skill, they will need to be able to identify the topic based on what they are taught in the text.
Urban Evangelism Essays - Urban Studies And Planning,
Urban Evangelism Go Ye Into All the World and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth. Acts 1:8 This commandment, given by Christ to his apostles, was one of action. First they were to go into their homes, or Jerusalem, then to their community, or Samaria, and then finally to the ends of the earth. The Christian church of today, however has lost sight of that directive. For too many years now we have sent thousands of missionaries abroad while ignoring the mission field next door. While many may witness in our homes few move out into the community, especially when that community is in an urban area. Joshua 8:7 says take the city. The LORD your God will give it into your hand. Now more than ever this call to take the city must followed by believers. The current population of the world is 5,983,000,000 (World POPClock, 1:57 p.m., April 28, 1999). Of those estimated 6 billion people, two thirds of them will be living in cities by the year 2000 (Giradet 1). By ignoring the call to evangelize the cities for Christ, upwards of 4 billion people my be lost. The shear numbers involved in urban evangelism should serve as all call to arms. The church must be involved in the cities of the world both physically and socially. Amos Howley says that Every social act in an exercise of power, every social relationship is a power equation (Hurst 92) Within that power equation, who better to serve at a catalyst for social action than the creator of power Himself. The Holy Spirit will enable the saint, but to effectively minister in the urban culture one must know the history, understand the lifestyle, and apply cultural relevancy to each and every action. First, a definition of exactly what the term urban means is essential. Benjamine Tonna in his book Gospel for the Cities gives a definition of urban that encompasses many of the far reaching aspects of this illusive term. Urbanhere covers all the things that characterize the fact of the metropolisThe central interest is in the process of urbanization, which can be defined as the phenomenon by which millions of men and women move en masse from rural to metropolitan areas, and - more importantly - which transforms the lifestyle (Tonnna 5). It is difficult if not impossible to characterize an urban area strictly in term of numbers or density. It requires far more than quantitative analysis but also qualitative analysis to understand the culture and lifestyle as well as the pure data. With this definition in mind, the history of the migration to cities must also be more fully understood. The industrial revolution spurred on a mass migration to the cities in the early part of this century. As jobs in manufacturing began to appear in large clusters at a particular city so did thousands workers to fill those positions. The boom in cities occurred at an astounding rate. while the total world population doubled during the first half of the present century, that of the cities with a population of more than 100,000 quadrupled (Tonna 49). This boom began in the United States and continued throughout the world for the next 30 to 40 years. Although the interests of the large corporations, and capitalization in general were well served through the advent of the city, more often that not the city was not a place where individual needs were met. The process of urbanization is unique from all other cultural migrations in that it was the creation of a privileged few for monetary gain and not a migration as a reaction to a social need or problem as had been the pattern in the past. Cities such as Madras and Calcutta, Hong Kong and Singapore were born as support bases for imperialist interests; they exercised commercial, administrative, and military function. These cities, and many others, in Latin America and Africa as well, sprang up from the concerns of the European population residing in them and the interests of the overseas metropolitan centers - mot from the needs of the local population (Tonna 11). This kind of development

Gender Issue and the Feminist Movement
Gender Issue and the Feminist Movement Gender issue has been a sensitive matter in the society since the period of feminism movements. Consequently, it has become a fundamental field of study for scholars interested in gender studies. Today many scholars discuss the issue of gender and its causes while the other scholars study the manifestations of gender at workplaces, homes and in society at large.Advertising We will write a custom term paper sample on Gender Issue and the Feminist Movement specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More That is why the story about a ââ¬Å"genderlessâ⬠baby Storm from Toronto has attracted the audienceââ¬â¢s attention and was widely discussed by scholars and by the public. Is it possible to determine a sex, but not a gender? Changes and developments in society have given new perspectives to gender studies. Gender should not be considered as a biological phenomenon like sex because it is the achieved status. Nowadays social scientists focus the ir studies on both relationships among people and individuals in order to know the various parts of gender divisions and social systems that result in different gender orientation of individuals in society. People achieve the status of gender through cultural, sociological, and psychological means (Risman, 2004). Stormââ¬â¢s parents insist on his or her right to decide what gender principles to follow or not as well. Fox notes that social scientists have not paid much attention to the area of parenthood despite the fact that it is a significant field for understanding gender differences and inequality (Fox, 2001). Gender roles are plays the main role in families. Moreover, the nature of motherhood in the society puts high responsibility on women. Fox also emphasizes that motherhood is the most gender-imposing activity in the lives of women. Nevertheless, the peculiarities of the relations between heterosexual parents and the division of their roles in families can influence great ly the childââ¬â¢s perception of the gender roles in the future (Fox, 2001). That is why it is rather difficult to prevent Storm from becoming interested in gender roles because it is one of the most important social effects which Messner described in his work with paying attention to childrenââ¬â¢s games with gender orientation (Messner, 2000). West and Zimmerman discuss the gender issue from a perspective of usual patterns fixed in peopleââ¬â¢s everyday relations (West Zimmerman, 1987). The authors set to differentiate between sex and gender in order to understand both perspectives accurately. The scholars studied such factors as the division of labor, social subordination of women, and formation of gender identity. They noted that people begin to acquire gender status starting from the age of five years.Advertising Looking for term paper on gender studies? Let's see if we can help you! Thus, we can emphasize that Storm cannot avoid determining his or her gender in our society. West and Zimmerman state that ââ¬Å"gender is unavoidable because of the social consequences of sex-category membershipâ⬠(West Zimmerman, 1987, p. 145). Therefore, if a child has a definite sex, he will be perceived in society as having a definite gender. In his turn, Joan Acker notes with references to labor and organizational hierarchy that, though feminist scholars know that hierarchical organizations are male dominated, they can be gender neutral (Acker, 1990). Ackers article Hierarchies, Jobs, Bodies: A Theory of Gendered Organization refutes these claims by feminist writers. In fact, Acker affirms that organizations are not neutral in terms of gender orientations, but instead images of mens bodies and masculinity dominate organizations processes (Acker, 1990). This only serves to marginalize w omen. In addition, menââ¬â¢s occupations of higher positions enhance the maintenance and promotion of gender separations at workplaces. That is why Storm is at risk to be not admitted in society in which all the roles of dominance and substitution depend on the gender hierarchy. The discussion of the question of gender has a long history. Paula England looks at some of the gender revolutions that have occurred since 1960ââ¬â¢s (England, 2010). England highlights changes that have taken place and why gender achievements are not even. She notes that women chores have undergone some minimal changes. Consequently, women have had chances to enter into male jobs in the organizations. Nevertheless, men have no interest in entering female jobs or activities (Norman, 2011). It is the reflections of femininity and masculinity in society. As women continued to acquire status in society, some of them began to resist male dominance and imposed roles on them. It is the fact that a womanâ⠬â¢s body is her key weapon. That explains why feminists and social scientists like Rose Weitz can use, for instance, hair as a source of resistance and at the same time accommodation to gender issues (Weitz, 2001). Weitz notes that the body is particularly fundamental for power struggle between men and women. Men have always justified their dominance over women by claiming that women have inferior bodies and brains. In turn, this has created a unique set of activities that have created a submissive, feminine body. However, women are aware of society and cultural expectations regarding their bodies and minds. Women have realized that they can consciously seek power by accommodating or resisting cultural, and society expectations imposed on them. Occasionally, women may combine both approaches in order to get power (Weitz, 2001). Stormââ¬â¢s parents have declared that there are few people who know the sex of this child.Advertising We will write a custom term paper sample on Gender Issue and the Feminist Movement specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More They have decided to complete this ââ¬Ësocial experimentââ¬â¢ because they do not what their child to suffer from any cultural and social expectations which can be imposed on him or her. Nevertheless, their child has the body which is of man or a woman. That is why all the expectations can be imposed because of the social tradition to divide people into men and women not due to their sex, but gender. In relations to the body issues, Willis, Miller and Wyn note that a theory gendered embodiment can explain the differences between men and women (Willis, Miller, Wyn, 2001). The authors argue that social construction of masculine and feminine as social practices creates a male who is more able to survive than his female counterpart. The authors established this through studying menââ¬â¢s and womenââ¬â¢s attitude towards death, career, body image and meaning i n life. The authors concluded that differences in attitudes between men and women were due to social organization of society particularly in the gender division. Ridgeway and Correll maintain that hegemonic cultural beliefs about gender are too strong in our society (Ridgeway Correll, 2004). These values and their impacts are what the authors refer to as social and relational ones. According to them, social and relational aspects are among the key components that influence the gender system. The authors take into account the cultural beliefs that have become embedded to include parts of gender relations. At the same time, they look into issues of bias and performance, and their effects on the individualââ¬â¢s lives. Therefore, Storm cannot grow as a person without paying attention to these cultural beliefs. Ridgeway and Correll analysis of the role of social and relational contexts reveals that it affects the differences and inequality, including race and class (Ridgeway Correl l, 2004). However, they tie these roles to gender system in society. The idea of gender relation once again features in this article by Correll and Ridgeway as expressed by Fox. However, these authors note gender is the part of everyone. However, they argue that gender is significant to the extent of defining social relational among individuals. Therefore, social, relational contexts influence gender systems. Feminist scholars approach gender matters from different perspectives, but they all revolve around the issue of male dominance over their female counterparts. The gender revolution of 1960s has enhanced the status of women in society. However, women movements have not achieved much. This is because gender systems and relations in society have deep connections with the cultural beliefs. This uneven success has led feminists to derive several ideas in attempts to explain what influence the progress of women.Advertising Looking for term paper on gender studies? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More Some scholars note that society imposes gender systems on people at an early age, which makes the gender relations embedded in this society. That is why it is a very difficult task for the parents to bring Storm up without references to a social gender. Today our society which is based on the division of definite gender roles is not ready to admit such an idea. Even when such a strict division can be rejected, it has an impact on society. Complete List of Extracurricular Activities 100s of Examples
Complete List of Extracurricular Activities 100s of Examples SAT / ACT Prep Online Guides and Tips How do you like to spend your time after school? Did you know that how you choose to spend this time could be one of the most important ways you shape your future? Extracurricular activities are a critical component of your college application, and you need to impress colleges with your interests. But you might not know what good extracurricular activities look like or what you should be spending your time on. We've got you covered here in our guide of hundreds of examples of extracurricular activities. Read on to get some inspiration for how to spend your valuable free time during high school! What Is An Extracurricular Activity? An extracurricular activity can be almost anything that isnââ¬â¢t required for high school credit or paid employment. These activities will become very important later, such as when you are applying to colleges, because they help you develop your talents, interests, and passions. They can also teach you practical skills like time management. With so many options out there, all students should be able to find an extracurricular that they are interested in and can develop a passion for! Remember that extracurricular activities do not have to be sponsored by your school, so you should also consider things that you do with your family or within your community as viable options. Below I've listed many popular activities that you may not have thought of as extracurricular activities. Take a look at the list and see if your activities are already on the list, or if anything you hadn't considered before catches your eye. Of course, this list isnââ¬â¢t complete, because you can turn almost any interest into an extracurricular. If you are actively involved in something that you don't see here - meaning you spend a significant amount of time doing an activity that is allowing you to develop a talent or interest, be a leader, or help out your community - then you should definitely consider that an extracurricular activity, as well! What doesn't necessarily count as an extracurricular? An interest of yours that's very self-centered. You can't justget abelly button piercing and expect colleges to be wowed. It should be an activity that demonstrates a talent or contributes value to other people. There's a spectrum here, though - improving your hair qualityisn't really an extracurricular. But starting a Youtube channel around beauty tips or creating a club for teen health enthusiasts definitely does. But if you're still unsure if something counts as an extracurricular, or you need some inspiration, then read on for our complete list of extracurricular activities. How Should You Use This Extracurricular Activities List? Not sure how you should use this list of extracurriculars? Just follow the six steps outlined in this section, and you'll be on your way to choosing the best extracurricular for you! Step 1: Brainstorm Extracurricular Ideas What are your interests? Have you always wanted to try out something related to art, but werenââ¬â¢t sure if it would be worth your time, or if it would be viewed favorably by a college admissions team? Keep in mind that colleges donââ¬â¢t really care about what kind of activity you are doing - instead, they want to see that you are doing something that you are passionate about. So make a list of all of your interests - both things that you are already interested in and other areas that intrigue you and you'd like to learn more about. Step 2: See Which Extracurriculars Fit Your Interests Look through the list below and see if any of the activities match your interests. You may see some ways that you hadnââ¬â¢t thought of before to pursue an interest! Keep in mind that there can be a lot of different outlets for each interest you have. For example, if you want to play an instrument, you can take private classes, play in your schoolââ¬â¢s marching band, play in a community concert band, or work as part of the orchestra for your schoolââ¬â¢s next musical. Step 3: Research Different Extracurricular Options Research to see if these activities are available at your high school or in your community. If there is something you are very passionate about thatââ¬â¢s not already offered, consider starting up a group of your own. But if you arenââ¬â¢t sure that the interest will stick and you only want to try it out, itââ¬â¢s probably best to find a different outlet for your curiosity. Step 4: Join Some Activities The next step is to start doing activities! But how many should you do? If you are a freshman, I would recommend trying out a bunch of different activitiesup to ten if there are that many you have an interest in. The idea at this stage is to sample a variety of extracurriculars. Once you start to get an idea of which activities are going to really help you develop the interests you are most passionate about, you can dedicate more time to those and drop the others. Step 5: Narrow Down Your Extracurriculars If you are a sophomore, junior, or senior, you should hopefully already have an idea of the kinds of activities that you want to focus on. Make a list of the top five activities that interest you. If you have the time to try out all five, go for it. This will give you a bit of time to experiment and see whatââ¬â¢s most of interest. If you donââ¬â¢t have time, try to narrow down your top five to three activities. Step 6: Increase Your Impact in a Few Activities Remember to not spread yourself too thin, especially if you are above freshman year. Itââ¬â¢s more important to spend significant time in each activity than it is to have a long list of activities. Choose activities that will allow you to make a meaningful impact, either in your own development, or in the community. Extracurriculars List by Category This list is organized into categories to make finding an activity that matches your interests easier. However, we recommend at least skimming all the extracurricular options below, even if you think they're categories you're not interested in. You never know what might catch your eye! Note: not all schools will offer formal clubs in all these categories. If you see something you're interested in that your school doesn't offer, try joining a community group or even a national or online group to explore the interest further! Many of these topics are available as summer camp activities, as well. You can also consider starting a club at your school if you are looking for a way to get involved in something you are interested in while also showing leadership and initiative. City Lights was the first Charles Chaplinââ¬â¢s first production after the technology in talking movies was first introduced. Nonetheless, the film did not the technology in its development, wisely so, since the sound equipment used would have trapped the film in sound sets and stages. Since the movie was built on the comedy genre, the actors staying up close to the equipment and this would not have produced the bouts of laughter an expectation, the audience relished. After watching the film, one must contend that the few sound used underscore the silent comedy without any overbearing the audience. In the opening scene, where the mayor unveils a civic statue only to find Charlie Chaplin on its arms enjoying slumber, the speech is shown by sounds sounding like shrills and screeches. Additionally, when Charlie Chaplin swallows the whistle and accidentally causes a concert to stop, followed by a scene in which he makes a call for cab to a stop and then another in which he surrounds himself with dogs. The first and the sequence of scenes as mentioned above, provide, perhaps the only moments when sounds is used. According to Gehring (12), the character, Little Tramp dwelt in the language understood all over the world then, pantomime. A part from these, music is only used in the film, when the synchronized score is used to aid with the movement of the comedy. A fiction short story - Essay Example At 19, Gregg was 2 months the senior of Cynthia. Having just spent her birthday with her boyfriend of 6 months, Cynthia longed for the day in which they would not have to part and could continue to spend each and every moment together in the bliss she was certain must await the couple. Although neither of the two were especially well versed in life or the complexities which it presented, they felt the zeal and courage that is oftentimes so indicative of individuals their age. The past few days had been spent as it were ââ¬â magically. Gregg had prepared, organized, and facilitated a weekend away for the couple that involved camping out in a state park within the foothills of the Carolinas. Even though the scenery was of seemingly little value to the star crossed pair, they spent the time they had hiking the footpaths, enjoying each otherââ¬â¢s company around the campfire, and generally soaking up the sylvan landscape. As such, the time passed all too quickly and the pair found itself on the way back home to the realities that had driven them to leave in the first place. Along the bumpy of ill-repaired state road that led down from the mountain side, Cynthia let out an audible sigh. Turning to her in between keeping a careful eye on the road, Gregg said, ââ¬Å"Yes babe ââ¬â what is it?â⬠Instead of turning to look into his eyes, Cynthia stared outwards onto the valleys, and silver lined rivers that glistened in the warm glow of the setting sun. Eventually after what seemed to Gregg like far too long a time for a positive answer to the question he asked, Cynthia said, ââ¬Å"I just ââ¬â donââ¬â¢t know how much longer we will be able to do thisâ⬠. Visibly dismayed by such a response, Gregg continued leading his old and beaten down SUV around the narrow twists and turns that led down the mountain. After what seemed to Cynthia as a jarringly short amount of time, Gregg responded by asking ââ¬Å"What do you meanâ⬠? This seemed as un necessarily annoying to Cynthia since it was obvious to her that Gregg knew full and well what she meant by such a loaded statement. However, rather than responding in a quick or offensive manner, Cynthia took another deep breath, remembering the perfection that the pair had experienced in the hours before, she thought better of such a snarky response. Instead, she reached for his hand in the empty seat that separated them at the moment. This time, turning from the window, she looked lovingly towards him and said ââ¬â ââ¬Å"Gregg, you know what I mean. I would love to continue this forever; but you must realize that if we are to do it, we cannot continue to live apart and will need to risk it all to be togetherâ⬠. Without giving her much of a chance to take a breath or to add anything additional to this thought, Gregg blurted out ââ¬Å"But we will ââ¬â I told you I just have to get a better job so that we will have a way toâ⬠She interrupted before he could finis h. ââ¬Å"When will that be? You canââ¬â¢t imagine how hard it is for me to continue to survive the pain and criticism that we are both getting from both sides of our friends and family.â⬠Visibly shaken by her response, Gregg decided that the best way to formulate any further response would be to thoughtfully consider her needs as well as their own prior to answering. Along this line of thought the two passed in silence as the miles passed by beneath their tires. Finally, and almost imperceptibly, Gregg looked to her and said, ââ¬Å"Iââ¬â¢m so sorry ââ¬â I never intended it to be like with us ââ¬â ya know?â⬠ââ¬Å"Of course I doââ¬
